2 Initial Consultation and Examination

A complimentary comprehensive examination of both partners at our center. A non-binding consultation with an IVF specialist with many years of experience. Complete diagnostic testing for both partners, including blood tests, a full semen analysis with sperm function tests, and genetic testing.

3 Examination Results and Treatment Plan

Within a week of the initial examination, we will meet to review your test results and discuss possible treatment options. Together, we will establish a personalized treatment plan.

4 Treatment: Hormonal Stimulation

A personalized stimulation protocol with the option to have check-ups in your place of residence, without the need to travel to the clinic.

1. How Much Does Assisted Reproduction Cost?

The cost depends on whether your treatment is partially covered by insurance. For self-paying patients, the base price for IVF ranges from CZK 67,000 to 80,000, plus approximately CZK 20,000 for hormonal stimulation medications (depending on usage). The total cost may increase depending on the number of eggs fertilized and embryos frozen — we hope you have as many as possible 🙂

For patients with partial insurance coverage, the cost is approximately CZK 23,000 to 37,000, plus about CZK 3,500 for stimulation medications. Even in this case, the total may increase depending on the number of eggs and embryos frozen — we hope you have as many as possible 🙂

2. Will My Health Insurance Cover the Treatment?

Czech health insurance companies provide partial coverage for their clients, including partial reimbursement for procedures related to treatment and partial coverage for hormonal stimulation medications. Coverage is available for up to four IVF cycles until the patient reaches the age of 40 (i.e., up to 39 years and 364 days).

3. What Are the Risks of IVF?

Ovarian Hyperstimulation Syndrome (OHSS)
In connection with hormonal treatment and ovarian hyperstimulation (excessive stimulation), there is a risk of Ovarian Hyperstimulation Syndrome (OHSS). The main characteristics of OHSS include painful enlargement of the ovaries, accumulation of fluid in the abdominal cavity (sometimes in the chest), nausea, vomiting, dehydration, and a risk of thrombosis (potentially very serious).

We have effective methods to reduce and monitor symptoms and complications until they resolve, including infusions and fluid drainage from the abdominal cavity.

Cancer Risk
The long-term risk of cancer after an IVF cycle is still unknown, but it generally appears to be minimal. It is hypothesized that hormonally sensitive tissues, such as the breasts, uterus, cervix, and to some extent the ovaries, could be affected in the long term by IVF treatment. However, studies of women who have undergone hormonal therapy have not confirmed this.

Congenital anomalies After IVF
Pregnancy following IVF does not show an increased incidence of Congenital anomalies in the fetus compared to the general population.

Multiple Pregnancies After IVF
Multiple pregnancies were common in assisted reproduction, mainly due to the transfer of two or more embryos into the uterus. At Sanatorium Helios, since 2012, we have performed single-embryo transfers exclusively, which has reduced the occurrence of multiple pregnancies to the natural population rate of monozygotic twins (approximately 2%).

4. Up to What Age Can I Undergo IVF?

The legal limit for undergoing any infertility treatment, whether using your own or donated reproductive cells, is until the age of 49 (i.e., 48 years and 364 days).
